When Ján Kuciak was murdered on February 21, 2018, along with his fiancée, Martina Kušnírová, an entire network leapt into action to expose their killers and continue the reporting he was unable to complete, as OCCRP:
- Published an award-winning investigation about the alleged mastermind of the assassination.
- Expanded on Kuciak’s reporting in other investigations, including on Italian organized crime.
- Opened the Kočner Library in Bratislava, where journalists can access over 70 terabytes of records related to the police investigation into the murders.
- Produced a documentary about the corruption that allowed the accused killer to act with impunity for years.
You’re invited to join a webinar commemorating the fifth anniversary of the murder of Slovak journalist Ján Kuciak. It will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 16:00 CET / 10:00 EST.
OCCRP’s Central Europe Editor Pavla Holcová and Investigace.cz reporter Eva Kubániová — both of whom worked with Kuciak — will discuss the Slovak journalist’s legacy in a live discussion moderated by Ilya Lozovsky, a senior editor at OCCRP, a partner of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). You will receive a Zoom registration link once you make a donation.
