Since 2014, Russia’s engagement with Africa has increased significantly in ways that threaten democracy on the continent, the National Democratic Institute reports. Developments in Africa and Russia’s embroilment in the war on Ukraine are likely to shape the extent and nature of Russia’s influence on the continent in the coming years.
Based on a scenario workshop in November 2022, new NDI report outlines four potential futures for Russia’s involvement in Africa and the implications for democratic resilience in the region. Please join NDI for a discussion on Russia’s involvement in Africa, how it may change from 2023 to 2025, and the implications for democracy.
